A VINEYARD BLESSED BY THE GODS

AOP FAUGÈRES
Château des Adouzes is located 20km north of Pézenas in the Languedoc in the South of France. The proximity to the Cévennes foothills provide cool air to mitigate summer heat and to help maintain healthy grapes and vines.

The majority of the 42 Ha (100 acre) vineyard features 70+ year old vines of Grenache noir, Cinsault and Carignan. The rest is Mourvèdre and Syrah. All the grapes thrive on this excellent schist terroir. The property is entirely situation within the Faugères appellation.

Faugères is a small appellation very well-regarded for its red wines. It’s the only Languedoc appellation with a homogenous terroir throughout. Here, schist is king. This very infertile rock drains water, making roots go very deep into the soil to find it, down to fractures in the bedrock. This unique features makes the vines very resistant to drought. Schist also absorbs and stores heat during the day, slowly releasing it back at night, which promotes healthy grape ripening.

Our Wines

AOP FAUGÈRES
We chose the tiger to adorn our bottles because it symbolizes power and elegance. These qualities perfectly represent the balance that we seek in our wines.

In Faugères, this means controlling the terroir’s concentration to favor freshness and create excellent Languedoc wines.

Each grape varietal has its own personality, but our style of wines is more fruit-forward, fresh, expressive and just lightly oaked for the red.

WINEMAKERS

We do all that we can in order to ensure a better future for our planet.
Jeanne and Olivier Coste purchased Château des Adouzes in 2018. They come from a long line of Languedoc winemakers: the Coste family living at Domaine Montrose since 1701 and the Fabre family in Valros since 1550.

The brother and sister, accompanied by their father Bernard, were looking for a superb red wine terroir.

They found exactly this in Adouzes with its rare schist soil and an exceptional old vine vineyard.
They took over from Jean-Claude Estève who did a remarkable job over many years.
